One year ago, the world watched in horror as violence unfolded in Palestine. The devastation and suppression of voices calling for justice profoundly impacted the global community. In response, here’s introducing An Artist’s Manual Against Apartheid—a new initiative aimed at inspiring artists and cultural workers with the tools to resist oppression through their creative work.
This project emerged from an open call initiated by Shubbak in early 2024. With the help of our Advisory Board – Aimee Chaalan, Ahmed Masoud and Nesreen Hussein – we have since commissioned the formidable artistic duo chamæleon, Farah Chamma and LIEV. Through this initiative, we recognise the power art has to confront systems of violence and to foster meaningful change and dialogue.
We are proud to be partnering with Amnesty International UK, Makan, PalArts and Counterpoints.
Keep an eye out as we unveil more in the coming weeks.
