Application 39 (for the 2048 Gaza Summer Olympics)

It’s 2040. The State of Gaza City, accepts the challenge of organising the games and starts building more tunnels to cater for the various the sporting. This upsets the neighbours, (including other Palestinian states).

Application 39 is a black comedy play that imagines Gaza hosting the 2048 Summer Olympics. In 2040 Gaza is divided into smaller states, run by flying talking robots. Underground tunnels are the only way to move through super speedy lifts. 

Two IT Department employees in the municipality of Gaza submit an application to the International Olympic Committee as a joke. They hack the website and copy the French application and just change the location.  

When the committee decides to award them the bid in an attempt to bring peace to the region, they unexpectedly find themselves meeting the challenge in a hilarious turn of events. 

An examination of hope in the most adverse situations, the play moves into the future to imagine a possibility for peace.
