Khashabi Theatre: MILK مِلْك
Shubbak and Southbank Centre are proud to present MILK مِلْك , a visual performance by Bashar Murkus, Khulood Basel and Khashabi Theatre, from Palestine, as the first confirmed show for Shubbak’s 2025 Festival.
Taking place on 24 & 25 May 2025 at the Southbank Centre, MILK مِلْك is the largest Palestinian theatre production to be presented in the UK in over 25 years, and it sets the tone for the festival's commitment to centering Palestinian artistry and cultural expression.
MILK مِلْك explores the impact of disaster, not through its causes or aftermath, but through the rupture it creates in time itself—where the past becomes ever-present, and the future seems trapped in an endless loop of repetition. Against this backdrop, a group of women searches for their lost motherhood, caught in the pain of displacement and the unyielding persistence of grief.
This stunning visual performance invites audiences to reflect on the trauma of catastrophe and the resilience required to endure. It is a powerful introduction to a festival that will explore the themes of resistance, solidarity, and hope in the face of crisis.
Tickets for MILK مِلْك are now on sale—don’t miss the chance to experience this visual masterpiece of Palestinian theatre. Join us on 24 & 25 May 2025 at the Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall, to kick off Shubbak Festival 2025 with this unforgettable production.
