For Sudan is an evening dedicated to the beauty, depth, and diversity of Sudanese culture. As part of Shubbak Festival 2025, the event brings together artists, performers, and storytellers from across the Sudanese community for a night of music, dance, poetry, film, and food.

Curated by Waleed Elgadi and Yassmin Abdel-Magied, the programme features an exciting mix of talent. Enjoy live performances by drummer Mustafa Khogali, vocalist Shurooq Abuelnaas, and DJ Heba Tabidi, along with spoken word by poets Ayah Speaks and Waleed Elgadi. The Nawaris Performing Arts Group, a children’s dance ensemble based in Cardiff, will showcase traditional dance styles from across Sudan.

The evening also includes several short-film screenings, including Al-Sit by award-winning director Suzannah Mirghani, and The Salon by filmmaker and curator Rafa Renas, all offering unique perspectives on life in Sudan.

Audiences will also have the chance to explore Sudanese traditions up close, with henna, national dress, and cultural displays by Al Keneena Beauty Centre. The Living Library, led by Ahmad Akasha, offers an interactive experience through personal storytelling and design. Authentic Sudanese dishes will be available for purchase from Toteil Restaurant, a much-loved eatery bringing the flavours of Sudan to London.

For Sudan offers something for everyone, whether you’re reconnecting with your roots or discovering Sudanese culture for the first time.
