Join us to mark the opening of Talking Textures, an analogue photo series by Yasemin Hassan exploring beauty, identity, and the cultural narratives woven through textured hair. The afternoon opens with a walking tour of the exhibition led by the artist, offering a personal lens into the intimate stories and striking portraits behind the series. As day turns to night, stay with us for a high-energy DJ set of SWANA nostalgia by British-Kurdish DJ and “conjuror of the vibes” LANA. The launch takes place alongside a beauty-focused Eid Souq rooted in ancestral care rituals. Browse and buy from SWANA businesses offering soaps, oils, henna, kohl, adornments, and culinary delights each holding stories of pride and inherited knowledge. A celebration of the traditions passed down through generations across the Arab world and SWANA region: rituals that honour inner and outer radiance while challenging Western beauty standards. هنحتفل سوا بإطلاق معرض صور جديد بيحكي عن الجمال، والهوية، والقصص اللي ورثناها من أمهاتنا وجداتنا، من خلال حكايات الشعر المُجعد والملفوف، واللي دايمًا كان له رمزية خاصة في ثقافتنا
في بداية اليوم، الفنانة ياسمين هتاخدنا في جولة وسط الصور وهتحكي عن القصص الحقيقية ورا كل صورة – قصص فيها حميمية وصدق، من قلب التجربة.
ولما الدنيا تليل، هنكمل السهرة مع دي جي من أصول كردية، هتولع الأجواء وتخلينا نرقص على نغمات تربينا عليها.
كمان في سوق صغير معمول بروح العيد، كله حاجات طبيعية ويدوية من صابون وزيوت وحنة وكحل، لحاجات بتزين الروح قبل الشكل. كل حاجة في السوق جاية من تقاليد عشناها، وبتفكرنا بجمالنا الحقيقي اللي مش تابع لأي معايير غربية.
القلوب المفتوحة بس هي اللي مطلوبة.
